What this is

Uploading with Cyberduck is a source-side task: it moves data files into Zeotap CDP, through the Google Cloud Storage bucket that your Zeotap Google Cloud Storage source reads from. Cyberduck is a third-party desktop file-transfer client that can connect to Google Cloud Storage, so it gives you a point-and-click alternative to the browser upload in the Google Cloud Console or the gsutil command line. Files placed directly in the bucket — with Cyberduck or any of the other direct methods — have no size restriction. The + ADD FILES upload inside Zeotap CDP is intended for files under 100 MB, so Cyberduck is a practical choice for larger files. This page walks you through adding the Google Cloud Storage connection in Cyberduck, authenticating with the G Suite account tied to your source, and uploading into the bucket path Zeotap provisioned for your dataset.

Prerequisites

Gather the following before you start. Open your source in Zeotap CDP and go to the IMPLEMENTATION DETAILS tab, where the Access Details and Path Details sections appear.
  • Project ID — the project ID listed under Access Details for your dataset.
  • G Suite account — the account listed under Access Details; you authenticate Cyberduck with it.
  • Bucket and path — the bucket name for your dataset, and the upload path shown under Path Details.
  • Role — an Editor account is required to create folders and upload files. A Viewer account can only list files that are already in the bucket.
  • Cyberduck installed — download it from cyberduck.io for your operating system.

Connect Cyberduck to your bucket

1
Download and install Cyberduck for your operating system.
2
Click the + button to add a new connection and select the type as Google Cloud Storage.
3
In the Project ID field, enter the project ID mentioned for your dataset under Access Details.
4
Expand the More Details section, add the bucket name from the Access Details to Path Details, give a name to the connection and close it.
5
Your internet browser window opens, where you need to log in using the G Suite account listed under Access Details.
6
After logging in, click Allow so that Cyberduck can access this Google account.
7
Once access is granted, a code is generated on the screen. Copy the code.
8
Switch to the Cyberduck window, paste the code and connect. The bucket opens for your usage.

Upload files with an Editor account

If your account has the Editor role, you can create folders in the bucket and upload files into them.
1
Create new folders under the bucket using Action → New Folder, as per the Path Details mentioned for your dataset.
2
Upload the file(s) to this folder using Action → New File.
3
After uploading the file, your internet browser window opens, where you need to authenticate using the G Suite account.
4
Copy and paste the generated code back into Cyberduck, as in the connection steps above, to complete the file upload successfully.
For PGP-encrypted sources, upload files only in the .pgp format. The folder structure Zeotap expects under the bucket — with and without PGP encryption — is set out on the Google Cloud Console upload page.

List files with a Viewer account

If your account has the Viewer role, navigate to the path mentioned for your dataset to list the uploaded files. A Viewer account cannot upload.

Verify the upload

In Cyberduck, open the folder under Path Details and confirm that the filename appears in the listing. Once the files are picked up, you can view the incoming data in the source’s PREVIEW tab in Zeotap CDP.
