A Salesforce CRM source brings data from your Salesforce CRM account into Zeotap CDP, so the records your sales, service and support teams keep in Salesforce can be unified with the rest of your customer data. To send data in the opposite direction — out of Zeotap CDP and into Salesforce — see Salesforce CRM (Sales and Service Cloud) for the batch destination and Salesforce CRM Real Time Integration for the real-time destination.

What this is

Salesforce CRM stores data as standard objects, which behave like tables. Although Salesforce has many standard objects, Zeotap CDP supports data sync from all standard objects and custom objects associated with a particular Salesforce account. The source sits in the CRM Data category of the Sources application, alongside the other CRM Data sources.

Supported identifiers

Some standard objects — Account, Contact, Lead, Case and Opportunity — contain columns corresponding to first-party user IDs, which can facilitate user matching. Make sure you ingest the user ID in such cases.

Sync frequency

The first data sync takes place once you create the source. Subsequent syncs take place based on the refresh frequency that you select. The following sync frequencies are supported:
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly

Example use case

An automobile manufacturer can use the Salesforce CRM integration to streamline its data management. By syncing data from Salesforce’s Account, Contact and Lead objects, the manufacturer centralises customer information and uses the first-party user IDs those objects carry for user matching. That makes it possible to build targeted marketing campaigns, personalise communication with prospects and customers, and track the customer journey. Choosing a sync frequency keeps the data current for decision-making and customer engagement.

Set up the source

Create a Salesforce CRM source

Set up the connected app on the Salesforce side and collect the connection details it returns, then create the source in Zeotap CDP and choose the Salesforce object and the fields to ingest.

Best practices for Salesforce CRM source

What to get right while configuring: at least one user ID per source, accurate country-to-region mapping, valid country values in the records, and the catalogue mapping.
