The Microsoft Dynamics CRM source brings data into Zeotap CDP: Zeotap reads the entities you choose from your Dynamics 365 CRM instance and imports them for unification and segmentation. The flow runs one way only — Microsoft Dynamics CRM appears in the integrations master list as a source and not as a destination, so there is no opposite-direction Dynamics page for pushing audiences back out.
What this is
Microsoft Dynamics CRM, now called Dynamics 365 CRM, is a Customer Relationship Management solution that helps businesses manage interactions and relationships with customers, prospects, stakeholders and other key contacts. It stores customer interactions in a shared, high-performance SQL database, covers sales, marketing, customer service and support, and integrates with Outlook and Microsoft Office 365.
On the Zeotap side this is a batch integration, recorded in the integrations master list as supporting any identifiers and attributes. It synchronises key standard objects such as Contacts and Accounts, and can also fetch data from custom objects. You pick what to bring across when you create the source: you name the Dynamics entity you want (account, campaign and incident/case are typical choices) and declare whether it carries customer data or non-customer entity data.
For example, a financial services company can sync customer interactions, service requests and opportunity data from Dynamics CRM into Zeotap CDP, centralise it for analysis and segmentation, and use the result to design targeted marketing strategies and track customer journeys. With configurable sync frequencies, the company keeps that data up to date.
Set up the source
Setup runs in two places. On the Microsoft side you register an app for the integration in your Dynamics 365 tenant and collect the values it issues, then add that app as an application user in the Power Platform environment holding your Dynamics data and note that environment’s URL. In Zeotap CDP you then create a source under the CRM Data category, enter the values you collected, name the entity to ingest and choose its data entity type.
